“The Eastgate centre, built on the site of Eastville market, has been open about three months. It’s a fabulous building - light, modern and airy and houses the Wai Yee Hong supermarket; a high ceiling-ed emporium of all foods Chinese and East Asian. They have the biggest selection of soy sauces I’ve ever seen, sesame oils, cooking wine, sauces & marinades, crackers, herbs & spices, flavourings, teas, frozen goods, tinned goods and also a selection of cooking utensils and woks.

“This is the newest addition to the Eastville area…a huge Chinese supermarket with a restaurant above. I’ve not actually visited the restaurant but my relatives tell me it’s very good.
The supermarket itself is far superior to Kin Yip Hon in Broadmead. First of all it’s massive for an oriental supermarket and it has a great selection of stuff. It has utensils, dried food, refrigerated food, frozen food, fresh food, drinks and snacks.

A restaurant review in the Bristol Evening Post for Water Sky Chinese Restaurant, mentioning the Eastgate Oriental City complex and Wai Yee Hong Supermarket.
WHERE SIZE MATTERS 10:40 - 08 September 2007
The first thing that hits you when you arrive at Water Sky is the sheer size of the place.Part of the £8 million Eastgate Oriental Centre which also comprises a Chinese supermarket and cash and carry, this vast, 400-cover Chinese restaurant is as big as a football pitch - albeit one covered with what looks like the biggest gold and red Persian rug in the world.

Sunday is the best day to turn up, as they have lots of freshly made stuff on sale. I can’t help but start salivating at all the freshly baked cakes and roast duck! From the moment you enter, the infectious bustle overwhelms you. Better still, if you turn up on the sunday near Chinese new year, there is a Lion dance in the middle of the street!
Thai, Indian, Malay, Chinese - they are all represented here, and it’s nice to know that seasonality of fruit and veg lives on in this little store.

“Best oriental food shop in bBristol It stocks a wide range of chinese, thai, malay, japanese, india and vietnamese food.
I like it because it is a one stop shop for food, cooking utensils and fresh products.
Its great value for money, often a lot cheaper than your local super market."

excellent customer service, I ordered online for the first time and was very impressed by the speed of delivery, and how very well wrapped the contents were, I always used to shop at the store in person but live a little further away now so not possible, the web site is very easy to navigate and place an order, top marks to business
